Gonzalez Statement on Passage of Small Business Jobs Act

Washington, DC - Congressman Charles A. Gonzalez (TX – 20) issued the following statement after the House of Representatives passed the Small Business Jobs Act (H.R. 5297), to expand much needed lending to millions of small businesses and offer tax incentives to help small businesses grow, hire, and fuel our economy.

“After months of obstruction from Republicans, we have finally crossed the last hurdle and passed legislation that will give small businesses the opportunity to grow and flourish,” said Congressman Gonzalez.  “Each time we’ve passed a jobs bill, Republicans have stood in our way to giving Americans the relief and boost they need.  Small businesses and workers deserve better, which is why I’m proud we are able to send this bill to the President to be signed into law.”

The Small Business Jobs Act will help America’s 27 million small businesses create new jobs and grow with $12 billion in tax cuts. It will make Main Street businesses more competitive with big corporations by leveraging up to $300 billion in private sector lending for small businesses, along with state grants for small business lending. With tax cuts and access to more capital, our nation’s small businesses will be able to put more Americans back to work. The Small Business Jobs Act takes another step to end job outsourcing by ending tax incentives for companies that ship jobs overseas. Finally, this bill is fully paid for and will not add a dime to the deficit.
