Mark is a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure, and
Agriculture Committees. These key assignments will give Michigan
greater influence over important agricultural and economic development
issues facing the district, as well as the forthcoming economic
stimulus package.
The House Committee on Agriculture deals with a range of issues
related to agricultural policy, including renewable energy; rural
development; international trade; futures market regulation;
agricultural research and development; bioterrorism and many others.
Schauer is the only member of the Michigan delegation on the Committee.
He will serve on the Subcommittee on Conservation, Credit, Energy, and Research, which covers energy and biobased energy production; rural
electrification; agricultural credit; and agricultural research.
The jurisdiction of the House Committee on Transportation and
Infrastructure includes construction, safety and maintenance of roads;
federal transportation regulatory agencies; civil aviation; railroads;
water transportation; and transportation infrastructure. Schauer will
serve on the following Subcommittees, each of which are relevant to job
creation and investment in Michigan: Highways and Transit; Railroads, Pipeline and Hazardous Materials; and Aviation.
