Congressional Art Competition
Artistic Discovery is an annual art completion held in congressional districts across the nation and an opportunity for students to display their creative talents in various mediums.
 
Entries will be displayed and judged during an Exhibition at the Osceola Center for the Arts on Saturday May 15 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The winning student will receive an invitation to attend a ceremony and the exhibition opening in Washington, D.C. on June 17 where their artwork will be displayed in the Capitol. The first and second runners up will have their art displayed in Congressman Posey’s Washington and Florida offices respectively.
 
If interested in participating in Artistic Discovery, please note the following rules and guidelines:
 

* Competition is open to all public, private, and home school high school students in District 15 only.

* All artwork must be framed and cannot be larger than 28”x28”x4” (including the frame).

* Entries must be original in concept, design, and execution and cannot violate any copyright laws. Any violation of the competition rules will result in the artwork being denied.

* Artwork must be two-dimensional and is accepted in the following mediums: oil, acrylics, watercolor, pastels, colored pencil, charcoal, ink, markers, collage, lithographs, silkscreen, blockprints, photography, computer-generated art, or mixed media.

* All students must complete the Student Information & Release and Label Forms with required signatures to be submitted with artwork for judging. Students and their entry piece must be present at the exhibit at the Osceola Center for the Arts on Saturday May 15.  Entries will be accepted between 9:00 and10:00 am.  No late entries will be accepted. Judging and special presentations will follow.

* Congressman Posey and his office cannot sponsor the winner’s trip and additional expenses according to governmental rules.  (Travel will be provided to the winner from each Congressional district).

* Winning artwork will be displayed in the Capitol for the entire year of the exhibition and cannot be returned prior to the end of the exhibit.
