Washington, Nov 11 - WASHINGTON – Congressman Bill Owens released the following statement regarding tomorrow’s observance of Veterans Day, honoring America’s almost 25 million veterans.

“We owe a debt of gratitude to those who have served in America’s Armed Forces. The men and women who fought to defend our freedom deserve nothing less than the support of the American people not just on days like today, but every single day of the year,” said Owens.

“I have had the honor and privilege of representing the people of New York’s 23rd Congressional District, including the Fort Drum community, for the past year and it is clear that our villages, towns and cities work to support our troops every day.  In Congress, I am working to ensure that Washington makes good on every promise we make to our servicemen and women upon their entry into the service.  Recently, I joined the American Legion in celebrating 2010 as a banner year for Veterans, and plan to take that momentum into 2011 to secure every benefit and educational opportunity that our veterans and their families have earned.”
