War on Terror

War on Terror

September 11th serves as an ever-present reminder that we must ensure our Armed Forces and Homeland Security Department have the resources they need to get the job done.  We must remain vigilant in the war on terror to ensure that America never faces such tragedy ever again.  This means remaining resilient in the fight against those who mean to harm our country and dedicating our forces to hunting down terrorists and bringing them to justice.

To help keep our soldiers the best trained, best equipped fighting force in the world, we have to maintain the infrastructure that aids them in their fight.  Fort Drum in our Congressional District is an integral part of achieving this goal, and as a Member of the Armed Services Committee I will do everything I can to strengthen that critical part of our national security.  It is their sacrifice that has continued to keep us safe in these uncertain times, and we owe them a debt of gratitude for their service.

As a member of the House Committee on Homeland Security, I will continue to focus on maintaining a border that ensures our safety and security, while at the same time facilitating trade with our neighbors to the North and South.  We need a thin but secure border.  In Upstate New York, we understand both the importance of a strong national defense and the need to maintain a positive relationship with Canada.  I believe we can achieve this, and I look forward to working with local officials, port authorities, the Department of Homeland Security and others.
