During his four space missions, Dr. Gernhardt has logged over 43 days in space, including four space walks totaling 23 hours and 16 minutes. He earned his bachelor's degree in Physics from Vanderbilt University, and his master's degree and doctorate degree in bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
