Our office can help you take full advantage of your trip to Washington, D.C. by arranging tours of the Capitol Building, the White House and other National Landmarks. 

Many of the sites in Washington are free and open to the public.  Below are a list of attractions that you may want to visit during your trip.  We've broken the list into two sections: tours that you can schedule on your own, and tours that we can schedule for you.

Arlington National Cemetery

  • Changing of the guard occurs every half hour from 8:00 am – 7:00 pm from April until September.
  • Changing of the guard occurs every half hour from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm from October until March. 
  • Tour Mobile leaves every 15 min. for tour of the Cemetery and costs $7.50/adult, $6.50/senior, $3.50/kids.

United States Botanical Gardens

  • Public access to the estate is limited to 250 visitors a day because of Hillwood’s residential location and zoning restrictions. Due to high demand and small tour sizes, you will be asked to make a deposit of $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens (65 +), and $5 for full time students with ID and children under 18 if a reservation is made. An orientation brochure and tickets will be mailed once we receive your reservation deposit. Please check your tickets to confirm the date and time of your visit and bring these tickets the day of your visit. 
  • Hillwood features the most comprehensive collection of 18th and 19th century Russian imperial art outside of Russia as well as one of the most important 18th century French decorative arts. 
  • Reservations are required to visit and can be made by calling (877) – HILLWOOD or by fax at (202) 966-7846 (requests will be confirmed by the Visitor Services staff).

Holocaust Memorial Museum

Even if you cannot get Permanent Exhibition passes for the day and want to come, we invite you to visit and take advantage of the Museum’s many other learning opportunities. 
  • Timed passes are necessary for visiting the Permanent Exhibition. Tickets are obtained by calling in advance to (800) 400-9373 or on the day of your visit which are on a first come first serve basis and are limited.

International Spy Museum

Mount Vernon

  • Various tours including “Slave tours” at 10 am, 12 pm, 2 pm and “Landscape and gardens” 11 am, 1 pm, 3 pm.

National Arboretum

Directions: Located in Northeast Washington, DC, 2.2 miles from the Capitol. It is bordered on the west by Bladensburg Rd., on the north by New York Avenue, and on the south by M Street. Visitor entrances are located on New York Avenue and on R Street.

  • Open every day of the year (except Christmas) from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm; Administration Building is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.

National Building Museum

  • Free daily tours of the museum are offered at 11:30 am, 12:30 pm, 1:30 pm and on Sunday at 12:30 pm and 1:30pm.
  • Exhibition tours are available on Saturday and Sunday at 2:30 pm for free.
  • For groups larger than 10 people a $50 admission fee required. 
  • Easiest way to schedule custom tours is to go to www.nbm.org and click on Custom Tours.

National Cathedral

Metrobus: From Capitol- at Independence Avenue SW and First Street SW, take 34 or 35 bus towards Friendship Heights and exit at Cathedral Avenue NW or from Woodley Park Metro –or– take 90 or 92 bus towards McLean Gardens and get off the bus at the corner of Woodley and Wisconsin Avenues and the Cathedral is on the east side of Wisconsin Avenue.

  • No admission fee, however a donations fee.
  • You can also sign up for several other more specialized tours with the National Cathedral tour service:
    • Close up Tour – held the first Sunday of the month at 1:30 pm (except in June).
    • High Light Tour – held the first Sunday of the month at 1:30 pm (except in June).

National Zoo

State Department

  • Guided tours of the Diplomatic Reception Rooms are held Monday through Friday at 9:30 am, 10:30 am and 2:45 pm only. The Diplomatic Reception Rooms tour includes the Entrance Hall, Transition Room, Gallery, Thomas Jefferson State Reception Room and the Benjamin Franklin State Dining Room. The exquisitely detailed architectural and decorative highlights of this suite of rooms serve as our country's main stage of international diplomacy. 
  • Advance reservations are required. Same day tours are not available. Tickets are not required for the tour. The Department of State is closed for tours on weekends and federal holidays.

Supreme Court
Metro: Orange or Blue Line to Capitol South

  • On days when the court is not in hearing oral arguments the public lectures take place every half hour on the hour beginning at 9:30 am and the last lecture is at 3:30 pm; Seating is limited and available on a first come first seated basis. 
  • The ground floor of the building, which is the public exhibit, is open from 9 am – 4:30 pm from Monday through Friday.
