Tierney Praises Local Residents for Service to Community during Thanksgiving Season |
Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman John Tierney thanked local residents and community leaders for their efforts to help families, seniors and veterans on Thanksgiving. "As we celebrate Thanksgiving, I salute the local residents who volunteer their time and resources to benefit our community around the holidays and throughout the year," Congressman John Tierney said. "I was glad to join in their recent efforts, and hope we will all take a moment this holiday season to thank those around us and give something back." Earlier this week, Congressman Tierney and local veterans groups presented a Beverly veteran with a flag that was flown over the U.S. Capitol in his name. He also joined Gloucester-based organization, The Open Table, at the launch of their Thanksgiving food program by helping unload and distribute the first major shipment of nearly 350 turkeys. Last year, The Open Door distributed 1,275 turkey dinners with all the trimmings to families throughout the region. ###
