Larson Statement on Re-Election as Chairman of House Democratic Caucus

Washington, D.C. - Today, U.S. Congressman John B. Larson (CT-01) was re-elected by his House Democratic colleagues to serve as Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus for a second term. Congressman Larson, who will serve as the 4th ranking member in the House Democratic leadership, was unopposed and elected by an  unanimous vote.

“First of all, I would like to thank my colleagues for electing me to serve a second term as Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus. I am truly humbled and honored to be bestowed this position.

“My leadership position will continue to allow me to do more for Connecticut and the 1st District as a whole. I have used this position to bring Administration Officials and fellow members of Congress to Connecticut to learn more about our state firsthand, increase our trade opportunities for local businesses through visits by Foreign Diplomats and Ambassadors, and represent the views of Connecticut residents on important issues in meetings with the President and Congressional leadership.

“My top priorities have and will continue to be promoting job creation in our communities, being a staunch advocate for local interests and concerns, and providing first rate constituent services to all residents of the 1st District.

“Serving as Caucus Chairman allows me to be a more effective representative to the families, small businesses, veterans and seniors here in Connecticut and I look forward to continuing this mission in the next two years.”
