Last week, I had the great pleasure at an event honoring his service to our nation and the Veterans of Foreign Wars organization to present Delbert L. Conroy of East Hartford with medals he earned in World War II. For the past thirty years, Mr. Conroy has served as Commander of the  Major Michael W. Donnelly VFW Post 10251 in South Windsor.

Mr. Conroy served our country with honor and valor from October 1944 to August 1946, which included serving in the U.S. Army’s 63rd Infantry Division. Among the seven military medals I presented to Mr. Conroy included the Bronze Star Medal & Oak Leaf Cluster, Combat Infantryman Badge 1st Award, and the Good Conduct Medal.

Mr. Conroy has been a dedicated veteran who has advocated on behalf of his fellow men and women during his time as VFW Post Commander. It was a pleasure meeting his family, including his grandson, 2nd Lieutenant Brendan Conroy (Army National Guard) who is honorably following in his footsteps.del conroy medal presentation 013

One of the duties I take great pride in helping the veterans of our district obtain military medals and decorations that they have rightfully earned. I thank Mr. Conroy for his service to the country and I will continue fighting on behalf of the interests of the men and women who are currently in the military and veterans, like Mr. Conroy, who have bravely served our nation.
