Mollohan Announces Wastewater Grant for Harrison County PDF Print E-mail
WASHINGTON - Congressman Alan Mollohan announced Thursday that the Enlarged Hepzibah Public Service District (PSD) will receive a $2,100,000 grant to extend wastewater service to the Gypsy and Hughes areas of Harrison County.

Residents in those parts of the county are currently served by failing septic systems or they discharge wastewater directly into the West Fork River. The grant announced today, when combined with $1,400,000 in matching funds, will bring approximately 160 customers into the Enlarged Hepzibah PSD.

“This is great news for the local community,” Mollohan said, “This project will not only make a difference in the quality of their lives, it will also improve environmental quality for the entire community. It will also put people to work, and it help build a foundation for future economic growth in the area.”

The grant will be funded by the Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA). Mollohan, a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, chairs the subcommittee that funds the Department of Commerce.

The EDA estimates that the project will create 345 jobs.
