Congressman to deliver cards to military hospitals, partner with local organizations to send cards overseas
November 17, 2010 Washington, D.C. – Congressman Jerry McNerney (CA-11) today offered a reminder that there is still time to participate in his fourth annual “Holiday Cards for Our Troops” program before the November 23rd deadline. Last year, Congressman McNerney collected over 6,000 cards from the community with touching and personal messages of thanks for our men and women in uniform. “Many of our troops will be away from their families during this holiday season,” said Rep. McNerney. “A message of thanks and support from back home can make a huge difference for the men and women who are serving our country. I’m proud that our community comes together every year to make thousands of cards to send to our troops. I’ll hand deliver these cards to service members recovering from injuries and work with local organizations to send them to our men and women stationed overseas.” Congressman McNerney will hand deliver the cards to service members recovering from injuries at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. and National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. He is also partnering with local organizations such as Packed With Pride in Stockton, East Bay Blue Star Moms, Pleasanton Military Families, and Livermore Military Families to send cards to troops stationed overseas. To participate in the program, write a message of thanks to a service member inside a purchased or handmade card, and deliver to Rep. McNerney’s office in Stockton or Pleasanton by Tuesday, November 23rd. Cards should remain unaddressed and envelopes unsealed. Below are the addresses of Rep. McNerney’s offices.
