I am committed to working towards getting our nation’s economy back on the path to prosperity and ensuring that taxpayer dollars are well spent.  Across our district, I’ve heard from many hardworking families who are trying to make ends meet and small business owners who are struggling to keep their doors open.

We must do all we can to encourage the growth of small businesses.  Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and are the leading American job growth engine. As our small businesses grow stronger, so do our communities.

In 2007, I formed a Small Business and Economic Development Advisory Board, made up of small business owners and representatives of local chambers of commerce and economic development organizations.  I meet with the Advisory Board regularly to hear about issues of concern to the small business community in our area and to discuss economic development initiatives.

We also need to stimulate the economy and create high quality jobs by providing middle class tax relief, promoting renewable energy technologies, prioritizing education for the 21^st century, and investing in smart infrastructure projects.
