Harry Teague in Carlsbad for Canal St. Groundbreaking PDF Print

Hobbs, NM – On Tuesday, October 19th,  Harry Teague will join Carlsbad Mayor Dale Janway and representatives from New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) for the groundbreaking of the Canal Street reconstruction in Carlsbad. Teague will meet with local representatives to discuss the project, how it will create jobs, benefit the local economy and encourage future economic development for the city.

The renovation, which runs from Pompa Street to Alameda Street, includes total roadway reconstruction, new curb and gutter, sidewalk, raised medians, center left turn lane at each intersection, new overhead lights and traffic signals, removal of two traffic signals at Canal/Fox and Canal/Hagerman, and other miscellaneous construction.  The purpose of the construction is to increase safety for pedestrians and motorists, improve the overall condition of the roadway, and revitalize main street.

Harry Teague, a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, has continually supported transportation projects throughout southern New Mexico. He recently hosted US Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood in a roundtable discussion on transportation and infrastructure projects in Las Cruces to follow up on his Transportation Summit, as well as leading a  Recovery Act site visit of the I-10 expansion project.
