FISCAL YEAR 2011 APPROPRIATIONS REQUESTS

THE THREE QUESTIONS

To be successful in running any business, and in guiding our federal government, there are three essential questions that must be answered. Will it work? Can we afford it? And most importantly, is it the right (ethical) thing to do?

To answer these questions, it requires good judgment and in many cases a lifetime of experience, all of which I used in determining which federal programs and projects to personally endorse. And I will proudly stand by every project that my constituents and I have requested.

TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY

This is the most transparent process in the history of the United States Congress.

Transparency and accountability are the hallmarks of this process. You deserve to know exactly how your money is being used and who has requested the use of your tax dollars. For each project I submitted, I also disclose the amount of money being requested, the name and address of the entity that could possibly receive federal funding, a description of the investment, and a signed certificate attesting to the fact that neither I or anyone in my family would benefit financially. This certification will also be available on the Internet before I vote on appropriation bills. Additionally, should funding be approved for a project or program I submit, my name will appear next to it within the bill authorizing the funding.

As part of the reforms, the appropriate federal agency will be given 20 days to confirm that the proposed project is eligible for funding. For-profit entities are no longer eligible to receive any funding under this process.  This will reduce the influence of corporate special interests on the appropriations process and create a more open and transparent manner of serving the people I represent.

·                    After School Tutors (Amount: $25,000)

This project will provide funding to the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians to provide after-school tutors for Native American students in grades 6-12.  The ultimate goal is to improve educational outcomes and reduce drop out rates among these students.   The project was requested by Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians, 88385 Pike Road, Hey 13, Bayfield, WI.

·                    Apprentice Program (Amount: $78,750)

This project will train young people to become owners and operators of managed grazing dairy farms through an apprenticeship program sponsored by Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development and the Wisconsin Tech College system and GrassWorks.    This project was requested by the GrassWorks, Inc., a not-for-profit organization, W2407 Hofa Park Road, Seymour, WI. 

·                     Automated License Plate Recognition system (Amount: $73,575)

This project will allow Green Bay to purchase and install a system to improve local law enforcement. The Automated License Plate Recognition System allows the police to more efficiently scan vehicles for persons of interest..    This project was requested by the Green Bay Police Department, 307 S. Adams Street, Green Bay, WI.

·                    Bay Area Medical Equipment (Amount: $1,003,000)

This project will allow the Bay Area Medical Center to replace old equipment and to purchase a hemodynamic monitoring system.  The project was requested by Bay Area Medical Center, 3100 Shore Drive, Marinette, WI.

·                    Birth to 5 Program (Amount: $140,940)

This project will allow the Birth-to-5 Program to expand to more schools.  This program connect families with young children to their local elementary school and the resources of Fox Valley in an effort to enhance the well-being of these children and their families. The project was requested by the Appleton Area School District, 122 E. College Avenue, Suite 1A, Appleton, WI.

·                     Brown County Public Safety Communications (Amount: $6,000,000)

This project will allow Brown County to replace all of their radio equipment with a new two-way radio system to meet a Federal Communications Commission requirement. It was requested by the Brown County, 3028 Curry Lane, Green Bay, WI.

·                     Chronic Wasting Disease (Amount: $1,008,468)

This project will facilitate the use of an official animal ID so that it does not get lost in a hunting preserve. This will also mitigate the difficulty of tracing a Chronic Wasting Disease sample taken from deer whose only identification is a carcass tag that was applied at death. This project was requested by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection, 2811 Agriculture Dr. in Madison, WI.

·                     Chute Lake Protection (Amount: $100,000)

This project will support efforts to reduce the infestation of a plant - the Eurasian Water Milfoil - in Chute Lake. It would allow boats entering or leaving the lake to be cleaned.  The project was requested by Chute Lake Protection and Rehabilitation District #1, 12388 South Shore Drive, Suring, WI.

·                    Coleman CTH B Repair (Amount $2,000,000)

This project will provide sanitary sewer, water main, storm sewer and roadway construction of County Highway B between County Highway CP to Belgium Road.  The project was requested by the Village of Coleman, 202 East Main St, P.O. Box 52, Coleman, WI.

·                    Community Building Energy Efficiency improvements (Amount: $80,000)

This project will allow the Town of Pembine to make energy efficiency improvements to the 55-year old cement block and brick community building.  The project was requested by the Town of Pembine, N18967 Dill Drive, Pembine, WI.

·                    Construction of Recycling Building (Amount: $80,000)

This project will allow Porterfield to construct a solid waste, recycling, and public works storage building.  Transporting materials to a local facility will save money by not longer having to ship things to sites out of Wisconsin. The project was requested by the Town of Porterfield, W2385 Twin Pine Lane, Porterfield, WI.

·                    Cranberry Research (Amount: $3,800,000)

This project will be used to purchase land and construct new research facilities in WI and to support the work of the Agricultural Research Service on cranberries in Wisconsin and Massachusetts.  This project was requested by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection, 2811 Agriculture Dr. in Madison, WI.

·                    Crisis Diversion Center (Amount: $324,330)

This project will provide funding to the Menominee Indian tribe for short-term services to people who are in crisis and who are at-risk of psychiatric hospitalization unless they receive immediate assistance.  Services will be available to tribal members and non-Native American residents who live near the reservation.  The project was requested by Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin, PO Box 910, Keshena, WI.

·                    Dairy Farm Management Teams (Amount: $500,000)

This project will help dairy farmers be more productive and more profitable.  This project was requested by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection, 2811 Agriculture Dr. in Madison, WI.

·                    Dairy Innovation Business Center (Amount: $2,000,000)

This project will allow the Dairy Innovation Business Center to provide technical assistance to new and emerging specialty businesses.  This project would focus on artisan, and goat/sheep milk cheese.  This project was requested by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection, 2811 Agriculture Dr. in Madison, WI.

·                    Dairy Safety Center (Amount: $1,000,000)

This project will establish a National Dairy Safety Center at University of Wisconsin- Madison.  Funds will be used to update classrooms and plant facilities; hire a program coordinator; and develop and deliver training to state-based dairy safety regulators.    This project was requested by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection, 2811 Agriculture Dr. in Madison, WI.

·                     Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (Amount: 206,220)

This project will fund training by the American Indian Chamber of Commerce for American Indian owned businesses.  The training would focus on helping these businesses get Disadvantaged Business Enterprise certification and once certified, grow their business.  This project was requested by the American Indian Chamber of Commerce, 10809 W. Lincoln Avenue, #102, West Allis, WI.

·                     Door County Communication Tower (Amount: $1,061,600)

This project will allow Door County to build a 400-foot communications tower that will serve parts of Door, Kewaunee, and Brown Counties.  Parts of this area experience poor cellular reception which causes police, EMS, and other emergency responders to lose calls. This project was requested by Door County Sheriff’s Department, 1201 S. Duluth Avenue, Sturgeon Bay, WI.

·                    Downtown Mall Demolition (Amount: $3,000,000)

This project will allow the City of Green Bay to raze a rundown 440,000-square foot mall.  Demolition will open up a blighted area and allow for redevelopment.  The project was requested by the City of Green Bay, 100 North Jefferson Street, Green Bay, WI.

·                    Emerald Ash Borer (Amount: $2,230,388)

This project will allow the State to set traps for this beetle that is damaging ash trees in much of the Mid-West, to monitor for signs of infestation, and, if necessary, set up quarantine to prevent the spread of the Emerald Ash Borer.  This project was requested by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection, 2811 Agriculture Dr. in Madison, WI.

·                    Environmental Internship Program (Amount: $350,000)

This project will allow University of Wisconsin-Green Bay to develop an environmental internship program to match its Certificate in Environmental Sustainability and Business.  The project was requested by University of Wisconsin- Green Bay, 2420 Nicolet Drive, Green Bay, WI.

·                     Evidence Handling Facility (Amount: $560,000)

This project will allow Green Bay to expand the amount of space needed to handle new evidence and store old evidence. Changes in the law now require that DNA evidence be kept for a longer period of time and the challenges of carrying out successful prosecutions have led to an increased amount of evidence and the City’s need for a larger facility.  This project was requested by the Green Bay Police Department, 307 S. Adams Street, Green Bay, WI.

·                     Expansion of Sewer in Shawano County (Amount: $1,320,000)

This project will allow Shawano County to replace its current waste water system with a new sewer.  The existing lagoon is a potential environmental hazard to the surrounding wetlands and the Wolf River.  The new sewer line will serve the County’s 74-bed nursing home and facilitate economic development in the towns of Belle Plaine, Waukechon, and Richmond.  The County has invested in establishing the initial water and sewer route. This project was requested by the County of Shawano, 311 N. Main Street, Shawano, WI.

·                    Farm Nutrient Management Planning (Amount: $97,000)

This project will allow the state to develop an easy-to-use field tool that gives farmers a variety of options for meeting the goal of reducing pollution.  This project was requested by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection, 2811 Agriculture Dr. in Madison, WI.

·                    Farm to School (Amount: $875,000)

This project will allow the State to connect schools across the state with locally-grown fresh fruits, vegetables, and other nutritious foods.  This project was requested by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection, 2811 Agriculture Dr. in Madison, WI.

·                     Fish Rearing Facilities (Amount: $797,000)

This project will allow Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa to renovate a 25-year old facility that breeds fish.  Improvements will include new drain and water lines, new pond liners, and new harvest kettles.  The fish that are stocked from this facility support and the recreational fishing industry on and off the reservation.  The project was requested by Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians, P.O. Box 67, Lac du Flambeau, WI.

·                    Fox Valley Children’s Mental Health Center (Amount: $577,500)

This project will establish 5 telemedicine sites at the Affinity and Theda Care campuses of Fox Valley Children’s Mental Health Center.  These sites will facilitate consultations between primary care physicians, pediatricians and other medical specialists . This project was requested by Fox Valley Children’s Mental Health Center, 1820 Appleton Road, Menasha, WI.

·                    Harbor Dredging (Amount: $150,000)

This project will allow the Army Corps of Engineers to evaluate issues associated with dredging the Washington Island harbor. This is authorized under Section 107 of the Continuing Authorities Program, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.  The project was requested by the Town of Washington Island, PO Box 220, Washington Island, WI and supported by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, 447 Michigan Avenue, Detroit, MI.

·                     HAZMAT Tools (Amount: $1,629,000)

This project will allow the Appleton Fire Department and the Wisconsin Regional Hazardous Material Response Team Network to purchase tools that quickly identify unknown chemicals in solid, liquid, and vapor form.  This was requested by the Wisconsin Regional Hazardous Material Response Team and the Appleton Fire Department, 4930 N. Lightning Drive, Appleton, WI.

·                    Head Start Consolidation (Amount: $500,000)

This project will allow the Head Start program in the Appleton area, which is administered by UW Oshkosh, to combine several classrooms into one permanent center to better serve the children.  The project was requested by the Head Start UW Oshkosh, 515 E. Parkway Ave, Oshkosh, WI.

·                    Head Start Buses (Amount: $156,000)

This project will allow Head Start to purchase 3 buses to take children from across Appleton to the new permanent center.  The project was requested by the Head Start UW Oshkosh, 515 E. Parkway Ave, Oshkosh, WI.

·                    Health and Wellness Center (Amount: $106,000)

This project will allow the Center to make needed upgrades and purchase equipment that will accommodate their electronic record system. The project was requested by Stockbridge Munsee, W12802 County Road A, Bowler, WI.

·                    Hmong Disadvantaged Farmer program (Amount: $400,000)

This project will teach financial literacy to Hmong farmers through a program set up by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer. The project was requested by Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection, 2811 Agriculture Drive, Madison, WI.

·                    Homelessness Prevention Fox Valley (Amount: $400,000)

This project will support the expansion of a successful local housing program.  Specifically, funding will help clients find permanent housing, and making sure they can pay rent and utility bills. The project was requested by Emergency Shelter of Fox Valley, 400 N. Division Street, PO Box 341, Appleton, WI.

·                    Housing for Homeless (Amount: $720,000)

This project would purchase and rehabilitate 8-10 housing units in Brown County for chronically homeless individuals.  This project was requested by the City of Green Bay, 100 North Jefferson Street, Green Bay, WI.

·                    Human Patient Simulator (Amount: $379,750)

This project will allow Fox Valley Technical College to purchase 4 mannequins that simulate human conditions in order to train emergency responders, nurses, technicians, and other health professionals.    The project was requested by Fox Valley Technical College, 1825 N. Bluemound Drive, Appleton, WI.

·                    Hydroelectric Power (Amount: $9,000,000)

Kaukauna Utilities was notified by the Federal Electric Regulatory Commission that they must repair parts of the power canal in 2010 and this funding would accomplish those fixes. This project will provide for professional engineering and design services, demolition and construction, and the procurement of equipment and materials.  The project was requested by the Kaukauna Utilities, 777 Island Street, Kaukauna, WI.

·                    Jobs for America’s Graduates (Amount: $203,400)

This is a curriculum used to prevent high school dropouts and the funds will be used to expand the program to 2 new locations -- Marinette Alternative High School and Marinette High School.    The project was requested by Jobs for America’s Graduates, 1402 Pankratz St., Suite 101, Madison, WI.

·                     Johne’s Disease Management (Amount: $1,000,000)

As a national leader in agriculture, WI plays a critical role in developing and implementing strategies to control and prevent Johne’s disease in animals. With the help of federal funding that has been provided since 2003, the state has created an online certification program for veterinarians that provide consultation in the development of herd management plans, and the establishment of biosecurity measures on farms. This project was requested by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection, 2811 Agriculture Dr. in Madison, WI.

·                    Kitchen Incubator (Amount: $339,183)

This project will allow small food producers in Northeastern Wisconsin to use an industrial kitchen to produce their goods for sale.  The State of Wisconsin requires that food items be prepared in a licensed commercial kitchen.  The project was requested by Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, 2740 West Mason Street, Green Bay.

·                    Manure Management Advisory System (Amount: $91,000)

This project will allow the State to implement the means of assessing the risk posed by a runoff and warning farmers of the consequences in order to reduce environmental degradation.  This project was requested by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection, 2811 Agriculture Dr. in Madison, WI.

·                     Marinette County Public Safety Communications (Amount: $195,000)

This project will allow Marinette County to replace all of its radio equipment with a new two-way radio system to meet a Federal Communications Commission requirement. The project was requested by the Marinette County Communication and Dispatch Center, 2161 University Drive, Marinette, WI.

·                    Meat Safety Center (Amount: $1,000,000)

This project will establish a National Meat Safety Center at University of Wisconsin- Madison.  Funds will be used to update classrooms and plant facilities; hire a program coordinator; and train meat safety regulators.    This project was requested by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection, 2811 Agriculture Dr. in Madison, WI.

·                    Medical Equipment and Expanded Services at Howard Young Health Care (Amount: $1,250,000)

This project will provide funding to purchase a digital mammography machine, CT scanner, C-Arm and ambulance to serve more people in rural Northern Wisconsin through the Woodruff and Eagle River branches.  The project was requested by Howard Young Health Care, 240 Maple Street, Woodruff, WI.

·                     Menominee County , WI (Amount: $0; language request)

This language will allow the repurposing of funds appropriated in fiscal year 2005 (originally made for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of county highway AA) for the reconstruction of State Highway 47 and County Highway VV in downtown Keshena, WI.  This project was requested by Menominee County, PO Box 279, Keshena, WI.

·                     Menominee Emergency Communications Center (Amount: $260,795)

This project will allow Menominee County to update its basic 911 service so that the dispatcher can identify the source of a call.  Currently, the system cannot tell where the caller is located unless he or she can speak.  This project was requested by the Menominee County, W3269 Courthouse Lane, Keshena, WI.

·                    Native American Indigenous Games (Amount: $250,000)

This project will provide funding for the Native American Indigenous Games that will be held in Milwaukee, WI, July 8-17, 2010.  More than 6,000 athletes are expected to participate.  The funding will be used to promote healthy habits and proper nutrition among participants.  The project was requested by North American Indigenous Games,  320 East Buffalo Street, Suite 607, Milwaukee, WI.

·                     Oneida Biomass energy development (Amount: $205,000)

This project would allow Oneida Seven Generations Corp (a tribally owned firm) to analyze the feasibility and engineering specifications to develop the Oneida Recycling Solutions project.  That will allow the tribe to develop small commercial, advanced renewable technologies and bring manufacturing and distribution rights to the State of Wisconsin.  This project was requested by Oneida Seven Generations Corp (a tribally owned firm), 1239 Flightway Drive, DePere, WI.

·                    Outagamie County Regional Airport ARFF (Amount $1,000,000)

This funding would procure a Mobile Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting unit.  The Federal Aviation Administration requires all airport fire personnel to participate in live training annually.  Wisconsin lacks the ability to train personnel in state.  Having this mobile unit would allow firefighters from the state to receive necessary training in Appleton.  The project was requested by Outagamie County Regional Airport, W6390 Challenger Drive, Appleton, WI.

·                    Outagamie County Regional Airport Improvements (Amount $8,000,000)

This project will make improvements to Outagamie County Regional Airport, including airfield signage, the reconstruction of taxiway “B” north; and the replacement of a concrete apron panel   The project was requested by Outagamie County Regional Airport, W6390 Challenger Drive, Appleton, WI.

·                    Phuture Phoenix (Amount: $300,000)

Phuture Phoenix helps low-income, and at-risk students prepare and pay for college This project will expand this program to additional University of Wisconsin campuses.  The project was requested by University of Wisconsin- Green Bay, Institute for Learning Partnership, Wood Hall 424, Green Bay, WI.

·                     Premises Identification  (Amount: $2,000,000)

This project would develop a prototype for tracing animal diseases. This will include the development of a means for consolidating animal identification data from various sources. This data will then be integrated with other livestock data to facilitate the mapping of animal movements using geographic information system (GIS) tools. This project was requested by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection, 2811 Agriculture Dr. in Madison, WI.

·                    Public Safety Building (Amount: $240,000)

This project would allow the Village of Bonduel to build a Public Safety building that would serve as a training site and office for the fire, EMS, and police departments.  The project was requested by the Village of Bonduel, P.O. Box 67, Bonduel, WI. 

·                    Reconstruction of County Highway GV (Amount $3,690,500)

This project will reconstruct the CTH GV South- Monroe Road - a corridor that connects two municipalities.  The road is in poor condition due to increased traffic. The project was requested by Brown County Highway Department ( 2198 Glendale Avenue, Green Bay, WI 54303) in conjunction with the Village of Bellevue and the Town of Ledgeview.

·                     Reconstruction of USH 41 (Amount: $10,000,000)

This project will fund improvements to a 14-mile section of U.S. Highway 41 near Green Bay, WI.  The existing roadway was originally designed for rural traffic.  Over time, however, greater development, tourism and trucking have increased congestion and led to growing safety concerns.   This project was requested by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, 4802 Sheboygan Avenue, Madison, WI.

·                    Renard Island, Port of Green Bay (Amount: $3,000,000)

This project would allow Renard Island, which had been used as a dumping ground for contaminated material dredged from the harbor, to be properly closed to protect human health and the environment.  The project was requested by the Port of Green Bay, 2561 S. Broadway Street, Green Bay, WI.

·                    Retaining Wall in New London (Amount: $670,800)

This project would allow the City to repair a retaining wall along the north bank of the Wolf River, between the Shawano Street bridge and the Pearl Street bridge in downtown New London.  The retaining wall provides structural support to the back of the buildings along the south side of the city’s main street ( North Water Street) and also serves as a flood control barrier.  The project was requested by the City of New London, 215 N. Shawano Street, New London, WI. 

·                    Riverwalk and Wildlife Viewing Pier (Amount: $1,000,000)

This project would build a river walk and viewing pier in DePere, WI.  It will provide an opportunity for thousands of school children to learn more about the area..  This project was requested by the City of DePere, 335 S. Broadway Street, DePere, WI.

·                    Sewer and Water Main Work in Niagara (Amount: $2,282,500)

This project would reconstruct 3 miles of water mains and sewers along the Highway 141 corridor.  The existing pipes are at least 50 years old. Some are as old as 100 years and contain leaky joints and some lead.  The project was requested by the City of Niagara, PO Box 24, Niagara, WI.

·                     Sewer and Water Expansion across HWY 141 in Lena, WI (Amount: $1,031,725)

This project will allow Lena to extend sewer and water facilities across U.S. HWY 141 at the County Highway intersection in Lena.  The current sewer and water service ends approximately 300 feet from US HWY 141.  A lift station will also be built.  This project was requested by the Village of Lena, 117 E. Main Street, Lena, WI.

·                     Sewer repair for Lena, WI (Amount: $175,175)

This project will allow the town of Lena to make repairs, including the installation of curbs and gutters and improvements to the water and sewer lines, on East Pelkey Street.  The project will encompass 900 feet of the street.  This project was requested by the Village of Lena, 117 E. Main Street, Lena, WI.

·                    Seymour Schools IT (Amount: $45,318)

This project will provide funding for the installation of infrastructure needed for wireless technology to provide internet access to the school.   The project was requested by Seymour High School, 10 Circle Drive, Seymour, WI.

·                    Specialty Meat Development Center (Amount: $900,000)

The funding will allow the Department to offer business, market and product development assistance, labeling and packaging support, as well as distribution and marketing assistance.  This project was requested by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection, 2811 Agriculture Dr. in Madison, WI.

·                    Student Merchant Center (Amount: $264,000)

This project will provide funding to teach secondary school students about business by having them operate several student-run businesses in the downtown area. The project was requested by the Gillett School District, 208 West Main Street, PO Box 227, Gillett, WI.

·                     Upgrade of Wastewater Facility (Amount: $2,200,000)

This project will allow the Stockbridge Munsee Community to upgrade its current wastewater collection facility so it can meet the needs of the increased number of residential homes and government facilities in the southern part of the reservation.  This project was requested by the Stockbridge Munsee Community, PO Box 70, N8476 Moh He Con Nuck Road, Bowler, WI.

·                     Upgrades to USH 41 interchanges (Amount $4,000,000)

This project will make several improvements to U.S. Highway 41 in Outagamie County.  Specifically, it will add auxiliary lanes on USH 41 between STH 96 and STH 125 interchanges to improve safety and reduce congestion in the area; repair the concrete pavement on USH 41 between the 2 interchanges; and overlay the concrete on STH 96 near the USH41/STH 96 interchange.  This project was requested by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, 4802 Sheboygan Avenue, Madison, WI.

·                     Utility work in Suring, WI (Amount: $389,337)

This project will allow Suring to extend utilities and a looping water main, and to repair the road on the East side of the village.  The project would be along Peshtigo Brook Road and Golf Course Road. New homes in that area lack public water and sanitary sewer service. This project was requested by the Village of Suring, 604 E. Main Street, PO Box 31, Suring, WI.

·                    Village of Suamico Fire Station (Amount: $1,950,000)

This project would allow the Village of Suamico to build a new fire station to replace an outdated existing facility.  The current building, which was built in the 1950s, is too small to accommodate modern fire equipment. The project was requested by the Village of Suamico, 2999 Lakeview Dr., Suamico, WI.

·         Viral Hemmorrhagic Septicema (VHS) Management (Amount: $550,000)

Federal funding would be used for testing and data analysis in an effort to control the spread of this deadly infectious disease in fish. This would help protect an important recreational industry in WI. This request would fund six positions and equipment for VHS testing.  This project was requested by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection, 2811 Agriculture Dr. in Madison, WI.

·                     Water main replacement in De Pere, WI (Amount: $550,000)

This project will allow De Pere to replace the city’s water mains to ensure there is adequate water flow for fire protection.  This project was requested by the City of De Pere, WI, 335 S. Broadway, De Pere, WI.

·                     Weyauwega Lake Restoration (Amount: $1,428,000)

This project will allow fish to be re-stocked, three blocks of beaches to be re-claimed and the construction of a bathroom, docks and a boat landing. It would also provide water and sewer services to the lake’s facilities.  The project was requested by Weyauwega Lake Restoration, Inc., P.O. Box 303, Weyauwega, WI.

·                     Wisconsin Wild Waterways, Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, WI (Amount: $5,405,000)

This project will allow the U.S. Forest Service to acquire undeveloped lake shoreline, along with other unique natural areas in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest.  This will increase recreational opportunities in the Forest and enhance conservation in the Forest.  This project was requested by The Board of Commissioners of Public Land at 125 S. Webster Street, Madison, WI, The Nature Conservancy at 633 West Main Street, Madison, WI, and the Trust for Public Land at 2610 University Ave, St. Paul, MN.

·                    Working Lands (Amount: $97,000)

This project will allow the State to establish a GIS system so that landowners can go online to see if their property qualifies for easement and zoning tax credits.  This project was requested by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection, 2811 Agriculture Dr. in Madison, WI.
