Overview of the 2nd District The Second Congressional District of New York is located entirely on Long Island. The boundaries were redrawn by the New York state legislature in 2002 to account for population shifts documented in the 2000 Census. The current population of the 2nd District is 654,360. While the district is mostly comprised of Suffolk County territory, a portion of Nassau County (Jericho, Old Bethpage, Plainview, Syosset and Woodbury) is located in the 2nd District. The 2nd District is unique because of the great diversity of its constituents, the close communities that exist and its location and proximity to some of the greatest beaches, parks, museums, villages and attractions that New York has to offer.
