Washington, Aug 24 - The National Science Foundation through the Office of Cyber Infrastructure has awarded a $43,750 grant to the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), Congressman Reyes, D-El Paso, announced today.

The grant help several universities, including UTEP, revolutionize the way cyber-infrastructure is taught.  UTEP will be guided by a common vision: to prepare the cyber-infrastructure leaders of tomorrow, to break away from the traditional textbook, lecture, homework-based approach to education, and to build a new framework where a vibrant network of educators, students, and field practitioners continually interact, collaborate, connect, and explore interactive content.

β€œI am pleased that the National Science Foundation has granted funding for this innovative and useful approach to cyber-infrastructure,” Congressman Reyes said.  β€œIt will create future opportunities that will allow UTEP continued growth as a university and give students an opportunity to learn from cutting edge technology.”

The National Science Foundation is an independent federal agency created by Congress in 1950 to promote the progress of science, national health, prosperity, welfare, and secure national defense.
