Committee Assignments
Due to the vast amount of bills and issues that Members of Congress must work on a daily basis, the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate divide their tasks among Committees and Subcommittees. The House and Senate each have their own committee system, which are similar. In the House of Representatives, Congressman Reyes serves as the Chairman of the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and a senior Member of the Armed Services Committee.

House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence

The House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence is the primary committee in the U.S. House of Representatives charged with the oversight of the 16 different agencies that comprise the United States Intelligence Community, including the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the National Security Agency (NSA), the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), and other executive branch departments and agencies.

House Armed Services Committee

The House Committee on Armed Services is responsible for funding and oversight of the Department of Defense (DOD) and the United States Armed Forces, as well as a substantial portion of the Department of Energy (DOE).
