Congressman Mike Ross "Never Far from Home"

There are currently no more telephone town halls scheduled for this year.
For a complete schedule of in-person town halls being held in August & September, please click here.

Earlier this spring, I wrapped up a district-wide listening tour where I held town hall meetings in 34 towns in each of the 29 counties that make up Arkansas’s Fourth Congressional District, which I have the honor of representing in the U.S. House of Representatives.  Unfortunately, many working families, parents of small children and senior citizens have difficulty attending my regular town halls and that’s why I also regularly host telephone town hall events, which allow me to bring the discussion right to you even when my duties require me to be in our nation’s capital for votes.

This summer, I will be hosting a series of telephone town halls to build on the town halls I've already hosted around our congressional district.  The telephone town halls will be as follows:
Each telephone town hall should last approximately 60 minutes.

Any resident throughout Arkansas’s Fourth Congressional District can connect into the telephone town hall by dialing the following toll free number and using the included PIN code:  Phone: 1-877-229-8493, PIN:  14573.  Anyone may listen to the call and specific instructions will be given to callers if they would like to ask a question.

We have some big issues to tackle this summer:  reviving our economy, creating jobs, reducing our deficits and national debt and ensuring we take care of troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and get them home safely.  I can only do my job when I listen to the people that send me to be their voice in our nation’s capital.  Some politicians get so wrapped up in keeping their job that they forget to do their job.  My job is to listen and that has always been my pledge to my constituents – a pledge that I will continue throughout my time in Congress.

Working like a large conference call, you will have the opportunity to ask questions and voice your concerns on an array of issues.  As on previous calls, I'll ask a series of survey questions throughout the call to gauge your feelings toward an issue.  You will be able to respond by pressing the numbers ‘1’ or ‘2’ on their phone and the survey results will be announced live throughout the call.

The live surveys provide a way for each caller to share his or her attitude toward a particular issue.  This is an interactive way of allowing each constituent to participate in the call as we discuss the important issues facing our nation today.

Some residents in Arkansas’s Fourth Congressional District may receive an automated telephone call from my office that will give them the option to be automatically connected into the telephone town hall.  However, any Fourth District residents will have the opportunity to join the town hall by dialing the following toll free number and using the included PIN code:  Phone: 1-877-229-8493, PIN:  14573.

All too often, Members of Congress get to Washington and forget who sent them there.  That is why I never moved to Washington and why after the last vote each week I am on the very next flight back home to Arkansas to visit with my constituents.  These calls are crucial because they provide a unique opportunity for me to connect with constituents from my district’s 29 counties all at once and allow them to ask questions and share their concerns with me from the comfort of their own home.

I hope you will join me on one or of all of these calls.

Sincerely,
Mike
