House Committee on Energy and Commerce -- One of the busiest and most important committees in Congress, the Energy and Commerce Committee is responsible for legislation affecting Medicare, Medicaid, telecommunications, energy, the Internet, health-based environmental laws, children's health, biotechnology, high technology, water resources, bioterrorism, homeland security, interstate commerce, gun safety, consumer protection, and food and drug safety.
I serve on the Health Subcommittee, the Subcommittee on Energy and Environment, and the Oversight & Investigations Subcommittee.
House Foreign Affairs Committee -- Generally, the Foreign Affairs Committee considers measures about the relations of the United States with foreign nations, protection of United States' citizens abroad, the United Nations and NATO. I am also a member of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, which is a group of over 300 parliamentarians from the 28 NATO-member countries from North America and Europe as well as delegates from partner countries that gather on a regular basis to discuss global cooperation in dealing with important issues such as the global economy and containing the threat of international terrorism.
