Health Care

Improvements must be made to our health care system, but I reject the premise of the health care law that government knows best how to run our health care.

I voted against the trillion dollar government takeover of health care.  I am working to repeal this law and replace it with common sense reforms that will lower health care costs and increase choices for all Americans – without driving our nation deeper into debt.

This Congress is going in exactly the wrong direction by forcing many American off their current health care plans, cutting Medicare, penalizing small businesses, limiting who can own and operate hospitals, rationing care and eliminating health care choices – all while raising taxes, increasing costs and ballooning the deficit.

In order to achieve the kind of health care reform that Americans deserve, this Congress must focus on common sense solutions like ending lawsuit abuse, making individual health care costs tax deductible, allowing the purchase of insurance across state lines, expanding health savings accounts and helping small businesses band together and purchase insurance for the same price as large corporations.

I have fought to protect the Wenatchee Valley Medical Center from those in Congress who have tried to shut it down.  And, I have written legislation that would preserve health care choices and protect doctor-owned hospitals by repealing the part of ObamaCare that puts arbitrary bans and restrictions on doctor-owned hospitals.
