My staff is not available to write grants for your organization.

Fiscal Year 2011 Appropriations Awards

One of Rep. Slaughter's highest priorities is directing federal funding back to the Western New York region and her district. This funding has helped local universities better prepare our workforce, companies expand, municipalities invest in necessary infrastructure improvements, and non-profit organizations move our community forward.  Each project must meet Congresswoman Slaughter's goal of strengthening our local economy and meet her three criteria: creating jobs, enjoying broad public support, and being fiscally responsible.

During the last Fiscal Year, Rep. Slaughter secured over $49 million for local projects. This money to will go to a wide variety of projects, including the following:

• The City of Buffalo Police Department will receive $360,000 for surveillance cameras.  Currently the City has 109 operational video surveillance camera units.  Securing the additional eight cameras will help reduce criminal activity, especially violent crime, and will support the Federal priority of enhancing public safety.
• The City of Rochester will receive $2,500,000 for the Rochester Intermodal Transportation Center.  The Center will combine rail, bus, taxi, car, and bicycle modes, and will be located at the existing Amtrak Station on Central Avenue in Downtown Rochester.
• The B. Thomas Golisano Center for Integrated Studies at Niagara University will receive $550,000 for the purchase of equipment and instructional technology.  The Center is a new, state-of-the-art science and research facility.

Fiscal Year 2010 Appropriations Awards

During Fiscal Year 2010, Rep. Slaughter secured over $26 million for local projects. Awards went to a wide variety of projects, including:

• The Monroe County Department of Public Safety was awarded $200,000 for a Biology/DNA Module for its Regional Crime Laboratory.  This Module will allow the crime laboratory to analyze more biological evidence by increasing the capacity for screening evidence for biological fluids and then applying new DNA technology to develop genetic profiles to solve cases and help reduce casework backlogs.  New evidence examination areas, workstations, hoods and equipment will be purchased to handle this casework.
• The Buffalo City Mission was awarded $200,000 to expand the programs offered by the Buffalo City Mission’s Cornerstone Manor facility for women and children.  These programs include drug treatment and prevention, parenting and life skills training, GED and education tutoring, job and career training, healthcare assistance, family counseling.  The expansion of programs will allow Cornerstone Manor to more than double the number of women and children seeking treatment for and recovery from domestic abuse, homelessness, sexual abuse, and drug and alcohol abuse.
• The Niagara Community College was awarded $100,000 for Hospitality and Tourism Center Equipment for the new Hospitality and Tourism Center. The center will provide area students with the necessary skills to enter the growing hospitality and tourism workforce, and will serve downtown Niagara Falls through community and continuing education, corporate training, and small business development support.
