WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Louise Slaughter (NY-28) today honored the 50th Anniversary of Americans for the Arts, the leading nonprofit organization for advancing the arts and arts education in the United States by introducing a resolution on the House floor paying homage to the leadership and training they provide to local public and nonprofit arts groups across the country.
Today Slaughter, Co-Chair of the Congressional Arts Caucus and a longtime advocate for increased funding for the arts, introduced and spoke on a resolution to that honors the anniversary of the Americans for the Arts, H.Res 1582. A vote on the resolution will take place in the House tomorrow.

“As of tomorrow children cannot be denied coverage due to a pre-existing condition, lifetime and yearly caps on your coverage are gone, and you cannot be dropped from your health plan if you become sick.”
WASHINGTON – In preparation for tomorrow’s implementation of the Patient’s Bill of Rights, Congresswoman Louise Slaughter (NY-28) today hailed the vital health care reforms saying that Americans will now be protected from many of the most egregious practices in our health care system.
“These are the changes we’ve been waiting for,” said Slaughter who worked diligently in her Rules Committee to pass the Affordable Care Act which was signed into law 6 months ago. “As of tomorrow children cannot be denied coverage due to a pre-existing condition, lifetime and yearly caps on your coverage are gone, and you cannot be dropped from your health plan if you become sick.”

The New York Times editorial board recently called on the US Food and Drug Administration and the Obama Administration to address the threat of drug resistant microbes caused by the common use of antibiotics in our food supply. Niagara Falls, NY – Congresswoman Louise Slaughter (NY-28) today announced $14 million has been awarded to the Niagara Falls International Airport allowing it to meet safety guidelines put forth by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The $14,037,797 grant was awarded to the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority by the FAA for design and construction of improvements to the runway safety area.
