Rochester, NY –Congresswoman Louise Slaughter (NY-28) was honored today with the highest honor awarded by the Rochester Institute of Technology, the Presidential Medallion, at the Robert F. Panara Theatre on the campus of the National Technical Institute for the Deaf.
Slaughter received the award in appreciation of her efforts to benefit Rochester-area students and residents, especially those who are deaf or hard-of-hearing.
The RIT Presidential Medallion has been part of RIT history for the past 30 years and remains one of RIT's most prestigious awards. It is given to individuals, groups or companies that have contributed either continuously or through a single act. |

Improvements Will Save Town Taxpayers $250,000 Per Year
Grand Island, NY – Congresswoman Louise Slaughter (NY-28) today announced $500,000 will be awarded to the Town of Grand Island for upgrades to the Town’s Water Treatment Plant creating yearly savings of $250,000 for Town residents.

Local Office will now Accept Passport Applications Thanks to Slaughter's Efforts
Tonawanda, NY – Congresswoman Louise Slaughter (NY-28) today joined Town of Tonawanda Town Clerk Melissa Brinson and local officials to open the area’s newest passport office in the Ken-Ton Municipal Building. The new office will serve as an alternative to current passport facilities located in select post offices and will serve area residents by appointment.
Slaughter, along with Tonawanda Town Clerk Melissa Brinsonve, worked to ensure the office would remain open and expend services.

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Louise Slaughter (NY-28) today announced that the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA) has been awarded a $7 million grant that will allow them to purchase 13 new hybrid buses as part of a national bus repair initiative. The funding comes at an important time when many of the diesel busses currently in the NFTA’s fleet are due to be replaced.
“I’m so pleased NFTA has been awarded this grant that will allow them to purchase new hybrid buses to replace the old diesel vehicles currently in their fleet,” said Slaughter. “Hybrid buses are cost-effective, environmentally sound and operate with efficiency that a standard diesel bus in incapable of possessing. It does us a great service to have clean, energy-efficient vehicles that provide Western New Yorkers with consistent and reliable transportation options. I'm also pleased that the $7 million will go towards the purchase of vehicles made right here in America.”
