Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Howard L. Berman, chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, released the following statement regarding the Obama Administration’s successful effort at the IAEA today to defeat a politically-motivated resolution which unfairly singled out Israel:
“I applaud the Obama Administration’s leadership today at the IAEA General Conference in defeating a resolution which unfairly targeted our strong ally Israel. This is a significant success for the Administration’s diplomacy and a rejection of yet another attempt to delegitimize Israel in international fora. Thanks to American leadership, many other nations understood that the only purpose of the Arab-sponsored resolution was to harass and intimidate Israel. I hope we can now move beyond this pointless political exercise and focus on substantive and fruitful discussions to bring peace and stability to the region.”
