Each year, the Congressional Art Caucus sponsors "An Artistic Discovery, the Congressional Art Caucus Competition." Every congressional district gets to submit one painting done by an area art student to hang in the corridor between the House office buildings and the United States Capitol building and be part of the national exhibit of artwork. This is a huge honor as thousands pass through the tunnel every day.
In Nebraska, the winner for each congressional district is chosen in conjunction with Nebraska's Youth Art Month festivities held March of every year. Below is some important information if you would like to participate in the contest. Please contact my district office if you have any questions.
Competition is open to HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ONLY
•Competition is conducted at no expense to the federal government
•Artwork must be two-dimensional, up to 32" x 32", and within the following categories: PAINTINGS, DRAWINGS, COLLAGES, PRINTS, PHOTOGRAPHS, COMPUTER ART
•Entry must be an original concept
•Entrant may not reproduce an image from a third party's work in the same or any other medium
•The work may not infringe on the rights of any third party
•The work may not violate the U.S. copyright laws
