Environment & Natural Resources

Upstate New York is renowned for its natural beauty.  From the Adirondacks to the Catskills, our district is blessed with rivers, lakes, and forests that draw visitors from across the country and around the world.  As the father of three children, I am committed to preserving these treasures so our families can continue to enjoy them for many generations to come.

I have a deep appreciation for nature and believe our wilderness should be protected, cherished, and accessible to our communities.  That is why I support common-sense policies that respect the need for conservation, commerce, recreation, and hunting.

As a member of the House Agriculture Committee, I understand the importance of conserving our soil, land, and water.  This economy has hit our farmers especially hard, so I am proud to support the bipartisan Conservation Easement Incentive Act, which would extend tax credits that help farmers and other landowners set aside land for conservation.

In Congress, I am fighting to bring investments to Upstate New York that will reinforce our local infrastructure, make our communities more energy independent, and create new, green jobs.  By taking advantage of sustainable technologies, we can protect our natural resources and get our economy moving again.

My office in Washington, DC is proudly participating in the Green the Capitol program to reduce electricity use, cut waste, and save taxpayers money.  I encourage you to help your families, your communities, and your government find innovative solutions to our environmental challenges.  I look forward to hearing your suggestions as we continue to work towards a safer, cleaner, more sustainable future.
