Retirement - 30 years or more in the workforce* 

*Military retirement letter requests for service members with 30+ years of service are processed and forwarded to the White House by their cognizant service representative.  Military service members retiring with 20 – 29 years of service automatically receive a Certificate of Appreciation signed by the President as part of their retirement package.
