Congressman Loebsack Joins Bipartisan Delegation to Afghanistan
Visits Iowa Troops, Hands Out Care Packages

Washington, Nov 23 - WASHINGTON - Congressman Dave Loebsack joined a bipartisan Congressional delegation to Afghanistan.  On his fifth trip to Afghanistan, Congressman Loebsack met with American military leaders and Afghan government officials to discuss counterterrorism operations in the country and progress in training the Afghan National Security Forces, but most importantly he had many opportunities to speak with and thank our dedicated troops.

“As a member of the House Armed Service Committee, I regularly receive testimony and reports on the status of our mission in Afghanistan, and it is a true honor and privilege to sit and talk face to face with our servicemembers stationed there,” said Loebsack.  “It’s become a tradition of mine to visit our troops during the Thanksgiving holiday and I was happy to once again get to spend some time with our brave men and women in uniform. On behalf of the Second District, I delivered a small piece of home to Iowa soldiers to show them our great appreciation.”

On his trip, the Congressman met with Iowa servicemembers and brought them a piece of home through care packages that included a generous donation from Raining Rose in Cedar Rapids, calling cards donated by the USO so that our troops can call home to their families during the holidays, and holiday cards and decorations from 5th and 6th graders at Prairie Creek Intermediate School.

As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, Loebsack is a strong advocate for our troops.
