Rep. Kilroy was named to the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Financial Services in January. The Committee on Financial Services oversees all components of the nation’s housing and financial services sectors including banking, insurance, public and assisted housing, and the Federal Reserve Bank among others.  Kilroy will serve on the Capital Markets, Insurance and Government Sponsored Enterprises, Housing and Community Opportunity and Oversight and Investigations subcommittees.

As a member of the committee, Rep. Kilroy has made accountability and transparency in the financial sector a priority. She has sponsored sweeping reforms like the Credit Cardholders' Bill of Rights that curb predatory fees by credit card companies; The Fraud Enforcement and Recovery Act, which provided stricter control and oversight over the bank bailout passed in 2008; and the Mortgage Reform and Anti-Predatory Lending Act that outlaw many of the egregious industry practices that marked the subprime lending boom.

Rep. Kilroy is a member of the Committee on Homeland Security. The Committee on Homeland Security was created by the U.S. House of Representatives in 2002 in the aftermath of September 11, 2001. The Committee was first formed as a Select, non-permanent Committee, to provide Congressional oversight over the development of the Department of Homeland Security.
