The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act was a victory for central Ohio families struggling in this economic crisis and worried about their future security. The plan will cut taxes for 95 percent of Americans and create or save 133,000 jobs in Ohio, while modernizing schools, upgrading roads and creating infrastructure.
The recovery and reinvestment package addresses the immediate crisis by extending unemployment benefits and, through a proposal by Kilroy, exempts the benefits out of work families from the income tax up to $2,400. Kilroy also fought to restore a plan to help the unemployed pay for temporary health care benefits called COBRA. This part of the plan will save families paying for COBRA more than $8,000 per year and ensure access to medical care.
Constituents can follow the implementation of the recovery plan on the google map below to see where central Ohio is benefiting.

President Obama has also created recovery.gov--a website to track all the spending throughout the process.
Rep. Kilroy also has created an opportunity guide to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act for government officials, businesses and individuals. Please contact Rep. Kilroy's recovery coordinator for more information.
