Ranking Republican on House Elections Committee Asks State Election Officials to Report Successes and Failures of Fraud Prevention; Pledges More Active Role Protecting Electoral Integrity Next Congress

WASHINGTON - Today, the Committee on House Administration's Ranking Republican Dan Lungren, R-Calif., asked election officials from each state to inform the Committee of their election-related successes and failures so that the Committee can aggressively tackle issues impacting electoral integrity in the 112th Congress.

In his call to action today , Lungren noted, "the recent reports of numerous states not complying with federal law to send military and overseas voters their ballots in a timely fashion, questions about the integrity of absentee ballots, and the potential for other voting fraud and error," and requested that state officials inform Congress after Tuesday's election of the measures they took to address these problems.

He also pledged to work with his colleagues on House Administration and aggressively tackle election issues in the 112th Congress, citing that they must, "take a much more active role supporting the integrity of federal elections in the next Congress, regardless of who is in power after November 2."
