HALL STATEMENT ON REPUBLICAN ‘PLEDGE TO AMERICA’

WASHINGTON September 23, 2010 - Rep. Ralph M. Hall (R-TX), Ranking Member of the House Science and Technology Committee, today released the following statement after Republicans presented their “Pledge to America.” This detailed governing agenda is based on ideas and concerns presented by the American people over the last few months through the “America Speaking Out” project:

“The American people have spoken loud and clear: stop frivolous spending in Washington, and make the Federal government more efficient, more effective, and more transparent.  I couldn’t agree more, and I think the Science and Technology Committee can play a key role in this effort.  We need to streamline R&D; programs and eliminate duplication, cut wasteful spending, and help ensure that science policy is a driver of innovation and jobs.

“Committee Republicans will continue to provide strong oversight over programs.  The need for urgent action to repair our economy and restore trust in government cannot be overstated.  My Republican colleagues and I are united in our pledge to listen to the American people and work together to advance sound science policy.”
