SENATOR LIEBERMAN ANNOUNCES 34 SERVICE ACADEMY NOMINATIONS FOR THE CLASS OF 2015

11.22.10

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Joseph Lieberman (ID-CT) announced today that he is nominating 34 of Connecticut's outstanding students for admission to the United States Air Force, Military, Merchant Marine and Naval Academies for the Class of 2015.  After more than 180 candidates started the application process for an academy nomination, more that 130 were considered culminating in two days of interviews.  Members of Senator Lieberman’s Nomination Interview Committee consisted of former academy graduates, veterans, business people, and his staff.

“Seeing the number and quality of our young people who have a strong  desire to serve our nation is truly inspirational.  Each year brings an opportunity to see so many of Connecticut’s young people with such a high level of intelligence, integrity, dedication, and leadership ability who are exceptionally qualified for nomination to these outstanding academies.  These academies ensure that our best and brightest get the necessary skills to lead our outstanding military men and women.  The difficulty in their selection is that there are so many high caliber candidates from Connecticut. I congratulate the nominees for their hard work culminating in this accomplishment. I am honored to nominate each of them to our service academies.”
