Jumpstarting Our Economy and Creating New Jobs

As long as millions of Americans are worried about their jobs or struggling to keep a roof over their heads, getting our economy back on track has to be our top priority. While I was not satisfied with every part of the Recovery Act, I supported it because it makes needed investments in our critical infrastructure that will help create jobs and get folks back to work. The Recovery Act has already brought in more than $285 million in funding for important infrastructure projects in Greater Arizona.

But government will not get us out of this recession on its own. It’s going to be the small businesses – the engine of our economy – that are going to get us moving again. As a Member of the House Small Business Committee, I am working to help small businesses lift us out of this economic downturn.  That's why I co-sponsored the Small Business Formation and Job Creation Act, which will cut taxes on new small businesses to make it easier for them to succeed.  This bill was endorsed by the National Federation of Independent Business, who cited me as “fighting for the rights of small business owners.”
