Fiscal Year 2010 Transportation Project Requests

Congress is crafting a new surface transportation authorization legislation to replace the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU). Congressman Kildee submitted the following member requested High Priority Projects from Michigan’s fifth congressional district. These projects will result in tangible transportation and safety benefits, will strengthen the local economy and will increase mobility.

The requested projects for Michigan’s Fifth Congressional District are as follows in no particular order:

$6,800,000 for the reconstruction of Saginaw Street between the Flint River and Austin Avenue in Flint, MI.

$3,200,000 for the reconstruction of Kearsley Street/Glenwood Avenue from Fox Street to Wallenberg Street in Flint, MI.

$4,800,000 for the reconstruction of Lapeer Road from I-69 to Center Street in Flint, MI

$4,000,000 for the reconstruction of Fenton Road from Hemphill Road to Ann Arbor Street in Flint, MI

$1,200,000 for the reconstruction of Hammerberg Road and Bridge from I-69 to Miller Road, Flint, MI

$8,000,000 to retrofit transit coaches from diesel to hybrid power, Flint Mass Transportation Authority, Flint, MI

$7,300,000 for the purchase of 25 34' CNG hybrid buses for the Flint Mass Transportation Authority, Flint, MI

$11,700,000 for the purchase of 45 35' CNG hybrid buses for Flint Mass Transportation Authority, Flint, MI

$360,000 for an I-75 Corridor Bus Rapid Transit Feasibility Research Study, Flint Mass Transportation Authority, Flint, MI

$5,407,200 for the reconstruction of Carpenter Road from Clio Road to Saginaw Street, Genesee County, MI

$4,255,000 to rehabilitate Linden Road from Lennon Road to Calkins Road, Genesee County, MI

$1,400,000 to rehabilitate Bristol Road from I-75 to Van Slyke Road, Genesee County, MI

$2,352,000 for the reconstruction of Pierson Road from Linden Road to Jennings Road, Genesee County, MI

$572,000 to reconstruct Holly Road from Baldwin Road to I-75, Genesee County, MI

$33,200,000 for design, property acquisition, and construction of the M-21/I-75 Interchange, Flint Township, MI.

$8,000,000 for planning, design, engineering, environmental review, acquisition of right-of-way, construction and reconstruction of the I-75 interchange at Holly Road in Grand Blanc Township, MI.

$100,000 for the construction of the Caro Thumbody Express transit facility in Caro, MI

$72,000 for the purchase of a medium duty bus for the Caro Transit Authority, Caro, MI.

$14,000,000 for design, engineering and construction of roadway and pedestrian improvements to M-46, Outer Drive, and the Fort Saginaw area in downtown Buena Vista, Michigan.

$20,000,000 for the reconstruction of Dixie Highway from Willard Road to Hess Road, Saginaw County, MI

$5,622,400 for the purchase of 44 passenger vehicles, Saginaw Transit Authority Regional Services, Saginaw, MI

$1,000,000 to purchase and retrofit 58 vehicles with fareboxes, software and equipment, Saginaw Transit Authority Regional Services, Saginaw, MI

$297,600 to purchase the replacement of a bus wash system, garage exhaust extraction system, and brake lathe, Saginaw Transit Authority Regional Services, Saginaw, MI.

$4,800,000 to design, engineer, and construct M-13/M-84 from Euclid to Lafayette Bascule Bridge, Bay City, MI
