One of the most important services that I can offer constituents of the Fourth District is lending a hand with Federal government agencies.

When you think about it, it’s kind of unfortunate that “casework”, as we call it, is even necessary, because it’s evidence that the government has either not done its job, has not done its job correctly, or has not done its job in a timely manner. When this happens, my office is standing by ready to help.

While we cannot single-handedly change an agency’s rules (that takes legislation) or tell an agency how to decide your case (we want to remain a nation “of laws” and not “of men”), we certainly can help you get in line for a decision.

Let’s Get Started!

If your dilemma involves an agency or a department of the federal government, and you have first tried to resolve matters yourself, then I would be honored to have the opportunity to help. Getting things started involves three simple steps:

  1. Complete a Privacy Act Release Form (PDF). The Privacy Act of 1974 requires that we have your written permission prior to making any inquiries with federal government agencies. Please make sure you sign and date the form.
  2. Assemble all supporting documentation, if applicable, and your completed Privacy Act Release Form. Please do not include original documents unless otherwise instructed by my staff – include photocopies only.
  3. Send all information to my office. You may do this by mail, fax, or in person. We cannot accept electronic versions of the Privacy Act Release Form as we must have an original signature on file.

If you have any questions about this procedure, please call one of my offices for help.
