For Immediate Release: September 23, 2010 Washington D.C. -- Today, Congressman Hunter joined House Republicans in presenting “A Pledge to America,” a new governing agenda that responsibly addresses some of the major challenges facing America today. The pledge follows months of engagement between Members of Congress and the public through town halls, business tours, individual meetings and the online forum America Speaking Out. Read “A Pledge to America” in its entirety here. The Pledge offers numerous solutions that can be implemented immediately, in addition to outlining basic principles that will continue defining the House Republican agenda moving forward. The following is a brief overview of the Pledge, divided into several parts: A plan to create jobs and end uncertainty
A plan to stop out of control spending
A plan to repeal and replace the government takeover of health care
A plan to restore the trust
A plan to keep America secure at home and abroad
“The public sentiment that Washington has lost touch with the people it governs has been allowed to carry on for far too long,” said Congressman Hunter. “Americans are demanding a new way forward and this Pledge shows that House Republicans are listening. Our pledge is centered on restoring accountability, strengthening security and putting America back on the path toward prosperity. In doing so, we honor our founding principles and identify a clear vision for the future through meaningful policy solutions. Overall, this agenda puts the American people at the forefront and ensures government works in the best interests of the citizens it serves.” |
