Veterans Day Video Message: A Time to Honor our Military Heroes

"The willingness with which our young people are likely to serve in any war, no matter how justified, shall be directly proportional to how they perceive veterans of early wars were treated and appreciated by our nation.”  -- GeorgeWashington

This Veterans Day, America celebrates the freedom made possible by the service and sacrifice of our nation’s military heroes.  These men and women in uniform, throughout the course of history, have dutifully protected the values and principles upon which our nation was created.  Today, they continue to defend the cause of freedom for not just ourselves, but millions of others around the world.

Our military veterans deserve our thanks and appreciation. For Congress, this means providing them with quality benefits and services, including affordable medical care and opportunities for higher education.  Most importantly, it means setting the highest possible standard for the level of attention and care they receive, so that today’s military -- and those who step up tomorrow – know they will not be forgotten.

On my website, I recently posted a video message on the significance of Veterans Day and the contributions of our military.  These brave individuals are responsible for the preservation of freedom and, for that, we owe them all a debt of gratitude.  I hope you take a moment to watch this video message and join me in recognizing these heroes this Veterans Day.

Veterans Resource Fair, Nov. 12

On November 12, I am sponsoring a Veterans Resource Fair in partnership with the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 2275 for San Diego-area veterans.  The event is set for 2 PM to 4 PM at VFW Post 2275 on 136 Chambers Street in El Cajon.

Counselors from the Department of Veterans Affairs will be on hand to help answer questions and provide assistance.  So please come with any questions, concerns or suggestions you might have regarding veteran benefits and services.  In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact my office for more information or visit my website, where you will also find the Veterans Resource Fair event flyer
