Water Resources Development Act Authorization

ALL ISLANDS

Hawaii Rural Water Infrastructure – to provide the rural sections of Hawaii with a variety of water resource-related assistance.

Remote and Subsistence Harbors – language to ensure that remote and subsistence harbors in Hawaii and other island areas are eligible for Army Corps assistance.

Regional Sediment Management Plan – a program to assist states in developing sediment management plans to avoid have dredged materials go into landfills.


KAUAI

Hanapepe and Waimea Rivers, Kauai, HI   - modification of existing Corps-constructed high risk levees at Hanapepe and Waimea Rivers

Kekaha-Waimea Watershed, Kauai, HI – for flood damage reduction and ecosystem restoration.


OAHU

Waialua-Kaiaka Watershed, Waialua/Haleiwa, Oahu, HI – watershed approach to address flood damage reduction, ecosystem restoration, and irrigation water supply.                         


MAUI

Maui Water Supply System, Maui, HI – to provide 300 million gallons of water storage in Upcountry Maui to meet residential and irrigation demand.

Kahului Harbor, Maui, HI – to expand capacity of the only commercial harbor serving Maui to support the increase in cargo coming to the island.

Hana Harbor Rehabilitation, Maui, HI – to rehabilitate Hana Harbor, which is currently unusable, to serve as a lifeline for this isolated rural community in east Maui.

Mokuhinia/Moku‘ula Ecosystem Restoration, Maui, HI – to restore the historic island, pond, and wetland area as habitat for endangered Hawaiian waterbirds.

Kanaha Pond Wildlife Sanctuary Restoration Project, Maui, HI – to improve habitat for endangered and migratory waterbirds.


HAWAII ISLAND

Waiakea-Palai Streams, Hawaii island, HI – to reduce flood damage and protect roads, residences, bridges, and drainage systems in South Hilo.
