Health Care

I believe that every American deserves access to quality, affordable health care. As California’s Insurance Commissioner for eight years, I understand that the for-profit insurance industry will stop at nothing to maximize its profits at the expense of consumers. Only two days after I was sworn into Congress, I was proud to vote for a comprehensive health care reform bill that would have insured almost every American. Three months later, I voted for a new version of the bill that was signed into law by President Obama in March. I was also proud to help write legislation passed by the House that would end the insurance industry’s ability to legally collude at the expense of consumers. I continue to fight for Medicare for All, better regulation of the insurance industry, and more affordability protections.
