Social Security & Retirement Security Unless Social Security is reformed, young workers will not be able to
depend on Social Security to provide for their retirement. Over the
next twenty-five years, as the baby boomers retire and our population
ages, only 2.1 workers will pay into Social Security for each retiree.
Today 3.3 workers pay into Social Security for each retiree, and in
1965, 8.6 workers paid into Social Security for each beneficiary. To counter these inevitable demographic trends, we must put Social
Security on sound fiscal footing. Comprehensive reform can be achieved
