Values

As Hoosiers, we are proud of our values: a focus on community, humility, hard work and strong personal convictions. For government to work, I believe it must adhere to these same values.

My family and faith are very important to me. I also believe that family values are more than just a phrase. They can serve as a guide in making excellent decisions. Our leaders must be partners with parents in ensuring that adult or inappropriate material on the Internet, television and the radio are not available to children. I believe human life is sacred and I value it in all its forms. That is why I oppose abortion and believe that government policies should encourage life and make it easier for parents to adopt children.

I came to Congress to change the tone of debate in Washington. Too many in our nation's capital have lost sight of what is important. Politicians have put partisan politics ahead of working on the priorities that most Americans share. That must change. We can help ensure that civility and respect for others is part of our government and nation.
