Visit Washington DC

dcskyline.jpgIf you are planning a trip to Washington, D.C., this page will provide you with information to help make your visit an enjoyable one.

First, I recommend that you start planning your visit at least 8 to 10 weeks in advance. Many of the tours will fill up quickly, so it is important to reserve tickets and tours as soon as possible.

My office can also provide a staff-led tour of the U.S. Capitol, or assistance with reserving a tour of the White House. Tickets for White House Tours are in high demand and have become very difficult to obtain. These requests typically require six months advance notice.

Capitol Tours

Tours for the general public are given weekdays by the U.S. Capitol Guide Service. For the latest information, please click here.

You should also click here for a list of items that are prohibited on a Capitol tour.

I am happy to also offer staff-led tours of the U.S. Capitol. These are scheduled on Monday through Friday from 10:00am to 2:00pm. There is a maximum of 15 constituents permitted on each tour.

White House Tours

Tours of the White House may only be reserved through the office of your Member of Congress. All tours are self-guided, although tour officers are positioned throughout the White House to help answer questions and provide interesting information.

In recent months it has become very difficult to obtain tickets from the White House. Given the high demand, these tours fill up very quickly during holiday times and in the spring and summer months. Therefore, we ask that you give at least six months advance notice. Once you have submitted your tour form, my staff will contact you within 10 days of the requested date if the White House is able to accommodate your group.

If you should have any questions related to your White House tour please call the nearest district office toll-free on the Cape and Islands at (800) 870-2626 or on the South Shore at (800) 794-9911.
