U.S. Rep. Bill Delahunt introduced the Main Street Fairness Act H.R. 5660 to help states retrieve billions in sales tax revenues that are owed but currently going uncollected. This year, an estimated $18.6 billion will go uncollected. Massachusetts will lose over $240 million. By 2012, the states will lose $23 billion annually.
