According to Dr. Spinelli, speakers will include senior government officials from OPIC and other federal agencies, including the Small Business Administration, the Department of Commerce’s US Commercial Service, the Export-Import Bank of the US, and the Minority Business Development Agency.
In addition, representatives from businesses investing overseas will share their insights and experiences. Networking opportunities will be available and participants will be able to arrange individual meetings with OPIC and other federal officials.
OPIC was established as an independent agency of the U.S. government in 1971 and currently does business in over 150 countries. Its mission is to facilitate the participation of US private capital and skills in the economic and social development of less developed countries and areas, and countries in transition from nonmarket to market economies.
OPIC assists US companies by providing financing, political risk insurance and investment funds. OPIC complements the private sector in managing risks associated with foreign direct investment and supports US foreign policy.
