Delahunt’s office is releasing an estimate based on information provided to his office by the House Appropriations Committee. The chart breaks down what each school district can expect to receive in Title 1 Education funding and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) funding. An earlier estimate of the House version of this legislation, included funds for school construction which was taken out of proposal by the Senate.
The funding is part of an allocation of $10 billion nationwide that was included as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act which is a job creation and economic growth initiative recently passed into law. These amounts are in addition to aid that will be provided under a separate FY 2009 Appropriations measure expected to taken up by the Congress this spring.
