Delahunt Announces Service Academy Candidates

12/08/2008
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Bill Delahunt announced today that he has nominated several local students for admission to United States Service Academies for the fall of 2009.

“Making a commitment to serve our country, particularly in a time of war, is a serious obligation. Given the enormous demands placed on our armed forces, I am honored to nominate these very accomplished and talented students,” Delahunt said.  “I also want to commend their families and teachers for helping nurture in each of these individuals a very strong commitment to serve our country.”

All the prospective nominees were reviewed by Delahunt’s Congressional Service Academy Selection Committee, comprised of eight distinguished area residents.  Receiving a nomination completes the first stage of the Service Academy process.  The applications of these students have been forwarded, without preferential listing, to the respective Academies, which make the final appointment decisions.
