Delahunt Nominees Accepted To West Point And Air Force Academy

WASHINGTON, DC – The United States Military Academy at West Point notified Congressman Bill Delahunt this week that three more of his nominees have been offered appointments.  In addition, the United States Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs has notified the Congressman that two more nominees have been offered appointments.  

The candidates offered appointments by West Point and the Air Force Academy are:

Joseph Durfey                      Marshfield                   (Air Force)
Joshua Morgan                     Hyannis                      (Air Force)
Kyle Ferrier                          Quincy                       (West Point)
John Kearney                       Duxbury                      (West Point)
Christopher McMahaon           Duxbury                      (West Point)

“This is the latest in a series of announcements we have made over the last few weeks demonstrating the outstanding caliber of students we have in our region,” Delahunt said.   “The acceptance rate of this year’s nominees is the highest ever in the tenth district.   I am very proud of these students, their parents and their teachers.”

For those Tenth District high school students and their families interested in learning more about and pursuing these unique educational opportunities, Rep. Delahunt has announced that nomination applications to any one of the four US Service Academies are now available through his office. 

Students interested in entering one of the Academies in the 2008 - 2009 academic year may request a nomination application by writing to Rep. Delahunt at 1250 Hancock Street, Suite 802N, Quincy, MA 02169 or by filling out a web form at http://www.house.gov/delahunt/acadform.shtml 

To be eligible, a candidate must be a resident of the Tenth Congressional District who has graduated from high school by June of 2007.  The deadline for a completed application for next school year is November 1, 2007.
