Chaffetz Sends Letter to President about SLC Airport Incident Involving Pat-Down of Young Boy

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Jason Chaffetz sent the attached letter to President Barack Obama. Rep. Chaffetz sought to bring to the President’s attention an incident that recently occurred at the Salt Lake International Airport.  The incident (shown in this video link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSQTz1bccL4) involves a father resorting to removing his young son’s shirt so that TSA agents could complete a pat-down of the boy.

Chaffetz expressed his concerns stating that, “Surely it is possible to secure an airplane without sacrificing individual liberties or privacy.  We can utilize bomb-sniffing dogs, AIT machines as a method of secondary screening, and behavioral profiling to accomplish the shared goal of safe and secure air travel.” Chaffetz also requested “an immediate investigation into the actions of all involved parties.”
